Signing

eID standars

Addo Sign uses approved eID standards (electronic identification) such as MitID and BankID to sign digital documents. Using approved eID standards for digital signing provides a foundation for secure, legally recognized, and widely accepted digital transactions, thereby strengthening trust in the digital signature ecosystem.

What is eIDAS?

Documents signed with Addo Sign comply with eIDAS, the EU regulation on electronic identification and trust services. This means that Addo Sign ensures the integrity, authenticity, and legal validity of your digital signatures.

eIDAS security levels

Addo Sign supports both advanced and qualified signatures, which meet the requirements for unique identification of the signer, control over the signing key, and protection against subsequent alterations. Understand the differences – and see our usage recommendations.

What security level - and when?

eIDAS defines three types of digital signatures – each with its own level of security. But which one should you choose? Here are our recommendations.

What is PAdES?

Addo Sign uses PAdES (PDF Advanced Electronic Signatures). PAdES is the European standard for digital signatures in PDF documents. The standard complies with the eIDAS regulation and is ideal for the long-term preservation of legally binding documents.

Example of a signed document

Access our audit report and see on the final page that the document is signed using Addo Sign. All information is also stored in the PDF and sealed with PAdES, ensuring it cannot be tampered with.

Validation service

Use Addo Sign’s validation service to verify the authenticity of any PDF document and confirm whether it has been electronically signed with Addo Sign.
